The WOODY STORES Story
Adel Fathy and Samar Mahrous are engineers who share a passion for furniture design and manufacturing. Despite successful careers, they faced a common problem - to get truly high-quality furniture, it was extremely expensive and out of reach for most households.
Adel and Samar were determined to find a solution. They spent countless hours studying the Egyptian market and materials used in the furniture industry. Through meticulous research and experimentation, they developed their own formula for creating premium furniture at affordable prices for every budget.
The challenging journey began in the summer of 2019 with a small, bare-bones workshop. With no employees, Adel personally handcrafted each piece while Samar handled marketing and financials. They started selling online through simple Facebook pages and marketplaces like Jumia.
Slowly but surely, their exceptional craftsmanship and affordable pricing helped them build a loyal customer base through word-of-mouth referrals. As demand grew, so did their Facebook following and brand exposure. They upgraded to a larger workspace and hired two workers to join their team.
A pivotal moment came when WOODY STORES caught the eye of Homzmart, one of the biggest online furniture hubs in Egypt and the Middle East. Impressed by their products, Homzmart sought an exclusive partnership - an incredible opportunity among over 2,000 sellers on their platform. Within just two years, WOODY STORES became one of Homzmart's top two sellers.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented immense challenges, but WOODY STORES's resilience and innovation allowed them to thrive against all odds. They continued expanding operations, investing in new skills, and relocating to a larger factory space by late 2023 with 25 employees and advanced manufacturing equipment.
From their humble beginnings to becoming an inspirational success story, Adel and Samar's dream knows no limits. WOODY STORES aims to become one of the biggest furniture manufacturers in the Middle East and ultimately, the world.
